Therapies I Offer

Depending on your individual needs, your therapy sessions might include any of the following modalities of treatment:

John F. Barnes Myofascial Release

This gentle, full body technique will identify areas of imbalance in the body that are causing pain and dysfunction.

Cervical/Thoracic Myofascial Release

Advanced techniques to treat headaches, TMJ, shoulder, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow. Advanced intra-oral therapy techniques to address soft tissue restrictions inside the mouth that may be contributing to jaw pain, headaches and neck pain.

Fascial Pelvis Release

Myofascial Techniques to treat and resolve: Sacro-Iliac (SI Joint) dysfunction, bulging discs, women’s health problems, plantar fasciitis, lower body pain.

Myofascial Unwinding

Myofascial Unwinding allows us to access the tissue memory that creates stubborn bracing patterns in the body. Our mind remembers everything that ever happened to our body, especially those events with a high emotional component (trauma, near death experience, a car almost hitting you). Myofascial Unwinding can be initiated by gentle touch to a painful or injured area of the body. The therapist will lift or traction that part of the body until the body release bracing/control. As the body lets go, the subconscious mind is able to help your body move into positions of past trauma. As these positions are accessed, the tightness from the bracing patterns softens and the healing begins. Once the repressed tissue memories are retrieved, the subconscious mind will release its grip from the structures in the body.

Myofascial Rebounding

Myofascial Rebounding is a gentle, oscillating motion which uses the body’s fluids as a therapeutic force. This gentle, soothing technique helps bring awareness to areas of the body that may be holding tension, as well as allowing the subconscious to release old bracing patterns.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands on approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve and performance. It was pioneered by Osteopathic Physician John Upledger after many years of clinical testing and research at Michigan State University. Using a soft touch, practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissues that surround and connect the central nervous system. Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is gentle yet effective therapy for a myriad of problems including headaches, TMJ, vertigo, neck and back pain. CST also calms the nervous system and aids in improving sleep and helping with stress and anxiety.

Gentle myofascial techniques performed inside the mouth to relieve pain and tension around the jaw and head.

Advanced Sports Massage

Developed to help support athletes of all levels, sports massage uses a variety of soft tissue mobilization techniques to promote flexibility and help prevent injuries.

Tui Na Therapy

Defined as “The ancient healing art of fingers and strength”, Tui Na is a therapeutic form of massage that dates back almost 5,00 years. This Complementary technique uses rhythmic compression techniques to help bring the body back to balance.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point therapy is a form of neuromuscular therapy that uses concentrated pressure on areas of muscle spasm throughout the body. It works by relaxing the muscle in order to release lactic acid and increase blood flow and oxygen supply to the muscular tissue, thereby alleviating pain and stiffness.

Prenatal/Pregnancy Massage Therapy

Pregnancy is a wonderful but often challenging time for your body. As the baby grows and your body continues to change, back pain, neck pain and sciatica are common complaints. Myofascial Release (MFR) offers a safe, gentle option for pain relief that will never cause harm to the mother or the baby. Along with addressing any current pain you may be having, your therapist will also assess and address any imbalances in your pelvis, allowing for a safer and easier delivery.

Reflexology

Reflexology is the holistic practice of applying pressure to distinct locations on the feet, hands and ears. These reflex points coincide with and effect all parts of the body, internal and external, including muscles, joints, and organs. The practitioner will use varying pressures and techniques the stimulate these reflex points and release imbalances in the body.

Acupressure

Acupressure massage is an ancient remedy of traditional medicine known to relieve pain and tension as well as resolve pain. Acupressure involves the application of pressure to specific points on the body. All of these points are organized in pathways called meridians, that run through the entire body. The goal of acupressure is to free any blockages in the meridians, allowing for a better flow of energy throughout the body.

Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage gently assists the lymphatic system in maintaining the body’s fluid balance, improve blood circulation and improve immune function.

Explant Scar Therapy

Scars from implants, explants and mastectomies can cause pain and restricted movement throughout the body. Scar release therapy involves gentle myofascial techniques to release scar tissue and restore full mobility and eliminate pain post surgery.
