Help Your Child Thrive
Life can be intense, and the demands facing young children and teens can take a toll on their body. Behavioral issues, appetite and nursing issues, pain when playing sports are just a few ways that fascial restrictions may manifest in your child’s body. Birth traumas and the many falls children take as they learn to walk can also lead to bracing patterns and compensation that affect your child’s health. Children are incredibly resilient, and addressing their fascia at a young age will help them feel their very best as they grow.
Here are some examples of situations when your child would benefit from myofascial release:
Physical pain that impacts their daily way of life, whether due to an injury, past trauma or “ growing pains”.
Anxiety/ Stress/ Sensory Issues
Bedwetting
Appetite Issues/Constipation/Reflux- Myofascial restriction throughout the body can place pressure on the digestive system, similar to a kink in a hose. Releasing these restrictions allows the digestive system to return to optimal function. These restrictions can be present from birth.
Headaches/ Text Neck/Carpal Tunnel - Many children are spending a lot of time in front of screens. Repetitive stress, including too much sitting, typing, scrolling etc., can create bad posture that causes pain and cognitive issues.
Dental Issues ( including those being addressed through orthodontia) Your child’s mouth is full of soft tissue that when restricted can place lots of pressure on the teeth, jaw and head. Releasing these restrictions improves the outcome of orthodontic work and can sometimes help the child avoid it completely.
Birth Trauma that is still effecting your child’s health/other trauma - Just like adults, when a child goes through a trauma ( even at birth), their body remembers the trauma on a physical level and will develop bracing patterns in order to “protect” from any similar threats that may come along in the future. This can lead to a child who is stuck in fight/flight/freeze response. Myofascial release is a safe and gentle way to help your child process that trauma and return to their healthy state of being.
Sport Injuries- No matter the age of your athlete, addressing injuries as soon as possible after they occur helps your child to fully heal and recover, so they can move forward and perform at their highest potential
